Relationship between serum lipid level and meibomian gland dysfunction subtype in Korea using propensity score matching

Abstract To analyze the relationship between systemic lipid profile levels and meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) subtype in Korea. The ophthalmic data of 95 eyes serum profiles patients were reviewed. These factors compared with those general population using from Korean National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES), which evaluated 2,917 subjects. Of these, comparison group (1:5 ratio; n = 475) was selected propensity score matching according to age sex. In addition, we analyzed MGD subtypes patients. mean high-density lipoprotein (HDL) value significantly higher than that (P < 0.0001). Moreover, low-density (LDL) lower 0.0002). However, total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) not different (TC: P 0.4282, TG: 0.5613). no statistically differed among 0.7650, HDL: 0.2480, LDL: 0.3430, 0.7030). A significant increase HDL decrease LDL concentration observed group, although there difference any level subtypes.
